Faith and trust are key components of a thriving lifestyle. When you feel full of faith and trust that everything is working out it frees your energy to take the action you need and want to take. For example, if I know it’s 4 miles to my destination on a hike and I start out, I know that if I walk the 4 miles I will get there. Most things in life are not like that, if you submit your resume, finish a book, create an ad campaign, design an employee retention plan, or start a business- there is no guarantee that says if you do it this way, you will arrive at your destination. There are many twists and turns and the effort often feels like it is unrewarded.
You know, I have found that all effort is rewarded in some way. The action, any action creates a net positive effect. Sometimes that net positive effect comes in a surprising way. Sometimes the positive effect is learning how not to do something. Sometimes the positive effect shows up in an unexpected area of your life. When you know, trust, and have faith that all of your action steps are contributing to something bigger, you unleash a thriving mentality. You give yourself permission to act, explore, and dream.
“Shine like the whole universe is yours.”
But what about things like illness, a loved one’s struggles, or politics? How do faith and trust help in these situations? To me, I think this is where faith and trust become even bigger. For example, 7 years ago when I was told I might need a heart transplant in a year, and I was looking at about a five-year survival rate, I stepped into faith and trust. This is what it looked like, I did everything I could (take the meds, pray, stay positive, love my people), but overall, I put my life into a place of faith and trust. I had faith that I could heal, but if I didn’t, I was still going to live my life fully. Within three weeks I had what the doctors call a spontaneous recovery, but I call it a miracle.
During the three weeks of the unknown, I went to a concert, went to friends to visit, had other people visit, walked up the stairs, did the dishes, drove, and more. I didn’t know I would heal, and I was told not to expect change until maybe 90 days. I lived my life. You can read more about the full story about what happened to me here
